Birthday Recipes for Cats

If your Pet has a pre-existing medical condition, consult your Banfield veterinarian before adding a new food to his or her diet.

Purr-fect Puff Pops

A tail-twitching, whisker-lickin' treat that is sure to get a meow from your favorite feline!

Ingredients:

1 hard-boiled egg
½ cup of honey
1 long sliced carrot
1 can of tuna (6-ounce can of tuna in water)

Directions:

Mash the hard-boiled egg and put it into a bowl. Add honey, carrot and tuna. Mix together and roll into marble-sized balls. Place the puffs in a sealed container and keep refrigerated until they turn into chilled pops. Then serve.

Serving size: 1 puff pop for an adult cat and ½ pop for a kitten.

Pet Party Coolers

We're sure that your cat and their party guests will have a lick'n good time with this chilled recipe!

Ingredients:

2 cups water
½ banana
1-tablespoon low fat peanut butter

Directions:

Mix water, banana and peanut butter in a blender and pour the mixture into an ice cube tray. For larger dogs and larger treats, use paper cups. Freeze the mixture for a few hours until frozen solid. The coolers can get messy, so you might want to serve in the yard!

Terrific Tuna Treats

Try this special birthday treat from the sea!

Ingredients:

6 ounce canned tuna
¼ cup water drained from tuna
3 T cooked egg white, chopped
¼ cup cornmeal
½ cup whole wheat flour

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350° F. Combine tuna, cooked egg white and tuna water. Add cornmeal and flour and blend to form dough. Knead into a ball and roll to ¼ inch thickness. Cut into one-inch sized pieces. Bake at 350° F for 20 minutes. Cool on wire rack before serving.
