Cat Spay Declaw

I have an indoor year old cat, is she old enough for a spay or declaw?

Spaying your one year old cat is a very responsible idea - unspayed cats seem to get pregnant no matter how hard you try to keep it from happening!  As far as declawing goes, cats can usually be encouraged to use a scratching post - there are many different kinds of scratching posts available to appeal to even the most discerning cat!  If you have tried that option and it wasn't successful, there are other options to declawing - one such option is a glue-on plastic cover that goes over the cats claws to protect you and your furniture.  These have the advantage of not requiring surgery and being painless to apply and for your cat to wear - the disadvantage to them is that they aren't permanent, and need to be replaced as the cats nails continue to grow.  If you've tried this product and are still unsatisfied, declawing is an option to discuss with your veterinarian.
