Banfield has joined forces with Pet owner and PGA Tour champion golfer Rory Sabbatini

Banfield, The Pet Hospital, the world’s largest private veterinary practice, has joined forces with Pet owner and PGA TOUR champion golfer Rory Sabbatini to raise dollars for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, which supports American soldiers and their families that have been affected by the current military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Kicking off February 1, 2007, Banfield’s more than 600 full-service veterinary hospitals around the country will promote and sell limited-edition “Hero Tags” for America’s Pets, which are round tags that hang from a Pet’s collar. Additionally, posters with Sabbatini and the “Hero Tags” will be featured in many of the PGA TOUR TPC Clubs around the country to drive more awareness for the effort.

“My family and I are quite proud to be part of such a noble effort,” said Rory Sabbatini, the 2006 Nissan Open Champion and the #12-ranked player on the 2006 PGA TOUR. “We appreciate Banfield’s support and look forward to playing a role in the success of the program.” Sabbatini has been a big supporter of the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund since 2005. In less than two years, his efforts, along with the efforts of the PGA TOUR, have raised in excess of $500,000.

“Banfield is honored to partner with the PGA TOUR and Rory Sabbatini in working to make a difference for families who have sacrificed for our nation,” said Scott Campbell, DVM, CEO and Chairman of Banfield, The Pet Hospital.

In addition to selling Hero Tags for $2 each and dedicating 100 percent of the revenue to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, Banfield will introduce a military discount starting February 1, 2007, that will offer a 5 percent discount off all goods and services for military families with Pets.

The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund is constructing a world-class state-of-the-art advanced training skills facility at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. The center will serve military personnel who have been catastrophically disabled in operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. The center will also serve military personnel and veterans severely injured in other operations and in the normal performance of their duties, combat and non-combat related. Although sufficient funding has been received for the construction costs, the Fund is accepting donations to provide additional services to the patients who will be treated in the Center and their families. These services may include facilities for patients` children, additional medical equipment and supplies, medical research to improve the care of patients, or other areas relating to the Center`s activities including the patients and their families. One hundred percent of the contributions will continue to go to these services, with nothing taken out for the Fund`s administrative costs. The Fund is entirely supported by donations, with 100% of public contributions used in support of the military families; no administrative costs are deducted. The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund is a 501(c)(3) organization. For information on the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, log on to www.fallenheroesfund.org or call 800-340-HERO.
