Flea

Fleas are small, brown or black, wingless, rapid-moving insects that feed on blood by biting Pets and, occasionally, people. If enough blood is taken from a Pet they become anemia due to the blood loss. If a flea was infected with tapeworms and the Pet eats the flea it is likely that the Pet will also develop tapeworms.

Tick

Ticks are small insects that live by taking blood meals from mammals. They are found in most parts of the United States. Ticks can carry several diseases that infect dogs and cats (as well as people and other mammals) by transmitting microscopic bacteria.
